The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a strong, well-rounded 15-member squad for the upcoming Women’s Tri-Nation ODI series 2025, set to feature India, Sri Lanka, and South Africa. The Tri-Series kicks off on April 27, with all matches scheduled at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo.

India, the second-place finishers in the ICC Women’s Championship 2022–25, will begin their campaign on Sunday, April 27, against Sri Lanka. The second fixture is on Tuesday, April 29, against South Africa, followed by their third clash on Sunday, May 4, again versus Sri Lanka. The league phase wraps up with a final group-stage match against South Africa on Wednesday, May 7. The top two teams will meet in the final on May 11.
With the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 to be held in India later this year, this series serves as a major tune-up. Notably, pacers Renuka Singh Thakur, Pooja Vastrakar, and Titas Sadhu were not considered for selection due to injury.
The squad features several fresh inclusions, with Kashvee Gautam, N Shree Charani, and Shuchi Upadhyay receiving their first international call-ups. Gautam, who missed last year’s WPL due to injury, made a strong return in the 2025 edition, ending as the joint-highest Indian wicket-taker for Gujarat Giants.
The selectors have also brought back Sneh Rana, who was picked as a replacement by RCB, and Amanjot Kaur, who recently won the Emerging Cricketer of the Season award at the WPL. Arundhati Reddy also makes her return.
Despite being the highest Indian run-scorer in WPL 2025 with 304 runs at a strike rate of 152.76, and consistent performances in domestic cricket, Shafali Verma remains a surprise omission.
Earlier this season, Ireland had toured India, and the hosts were with a slightly altered squad. Smriti Mandhana led the side in the absence of Harmanpreet Kaur, with Deepti Sharma serving as vice-captain. Several key players from the current Tri-Series squad — including Yastika Bhatia, Amanjot Kaur, Kashvee Gautam, Sneh Rana, Arundhati Reddy, N Shree Charani, and Shuchi Upadhyay — were not part of that Ireland tour.
In their place, the squad featured names like Uma Chetry, Raghvi Bist, Minnu Mani, Priya Mishra, Tanuja Kanwer, Titas Sadhu, Saima Thakor, and Sayali Satghare. The selection approach indicated the team management’s intent to experiment and build bench strength, with an eye on long-term goals leading up to the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025.
