With Cricket Australia unveiling the schedule for the summer of 2025-26, the anticipation has reached brand new levels. The calendar is packed with exciting matches, but one of the most highly anticipated events is undoubtedly the Indian Women’s Tour of Australia, featuring three T20Is, three ODIs and a single Test Match. While the focus may be on the bilateral limited-overs series, it’s the one-off Test match that has stolen the spotlight, promising an unforgettable clash between two cricketing powerhouses.

The last time India faced Australia in a Test match was during the 2023 Australian Women’s Tour of India. Although Australia dominated the limited-overs leg, winning the ODI series 3-0 and the T20I series 2-1, the Women-In-Blue made history by claiming their first-ever Test victory over Australia.

The landmark match took place at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, where India triumphed by eight wickets. Sneh Rana was named Player of the Match for her impressive bowling spells, taking 3/56 in the first innings and 4/63 in the second. The match also saw notable batting performances from Tahlia McGrath, Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Deepti Sharma, while Pooja Vastrakar and Ashleigh Gardner also picked up four-wicket hauls.

This time around, the one-off Test match is slated to take place at the iconic WACA Ground in Perth, a venue steeped in history and tradition. Known for its fast, bouncy pitch, the WACA promises a spectacle that could tilt in favour of either side.

Australian legend Ellyse Perry and skipper Alyssa Healy have weighed in on the upcoming clash, sharing their thoughts on the highly anticipated encounter.

Reflecting on the significance of the contest, wicket-keeper batter Alyssa Healy shared her thoughts on the upcoming clash, highlighting the intensity and fun that awaits both teams at the WACA. “It should be a really fierce contest. We went over there and played a test match at Wankhede. So, for us to give them an Aussie feel and play at the WACA is going to be really good fun to watch,” she said.

Sharing her excitement on playing at the WACA, star all-rounder Ellyse Perry said, “The WACA is a great ground for Women’s Test match cricket. It’s a traditionally hard and bouncy pitch and I think that’s promoted some really attacking play whenever I’ve played there in Test Matches.”

Healy, who has amassed 489 Test runs in her career, including 105 against India, brings valuable experience to the contest. Meanwhile, Perry, one of the most accomplished all-rounders in the women’s game, boasts an impressive 930 Test runs, with 118 of those coming against India, while also adding 39 test wickets to her name.
