The second game of the 2025 North – South Women’s One-Day Series is scheduled for the 30th of March 2025, at 3:00 AM Indian Standard Time (IST) at Bert Sutcliffe Oval in Lincoln. After an exciting 6-run victory in the first game, where they scored 291/9 and successfully defended it, North leads the series 1-0.

Both Nensi Patel (77 off 76) and Hannah Rowe (85 off 86) were crucial in North’s win, and Patel also made an impression with her bowling, claiming 3/48. Despite a valiant effort, South were restricted to 285/7, with Olivia Gain (58 off 61) and Bella James (76 off 60) leading the charge. Another fierce matchup is in the works because both sides have important all-round players and a deep batting lineup.

Players to look out:
Hannah Rowe
The 28-year-old veteran all-rounder scored a crucial 85 off 86 balls to help North win the series opener. She is an important cog in the batting lineup because of her capacity to lead the innings while maintaining a healthy strike rate. She also offers a useful seam-bowling alternative and has claimed 24 wickets at an economy rate of 7.67 in 38 innings.
Nensi Patel
In the opening game, Patel, the young rising talent demonstrated her versatility by grabbing three wickets for 48 runs and stepping up with the bat, scoring 77 off 76 balls. In the recently concluded 2024-25 One Day competition, Hallyburton Johnstone Shield (HJS), she accumulated 245 runs and bagged 9 wickets from 10 outings. It’ll be hoped she continues in this form, delivering the goods.
Hayley Jensen
The South Women’s captain, Hayley Jensen, is a seasoned all-around player who provides stability and leadership to the group. Jensen’s years of international experience have given her the flexibility to adjust to various match circumstances. She is a medium-pacer and dependable middle-order batter. In the 2024-25 HJS, she added only 98 runs to the tally, but spearheaded the bowling attack, scalping 15 wickets, at an economy rate of 2.57, from 10 games.
Olivia Gain
Olivia is a talented all-round player, who scored 58 off 61 balls in this series opener, and was instrumental in South’s near-successful chase in the opener. When necessary, she can accelerate and rotate strike effectively. In the 2024-25 HJS she accumulated 137 runs from 9 innings and most recently with a fifty has proven her mettle.
Pitch:
The Bert Sutcliffe Oval provides a fair contest between bat and ball. Although bowlers, particularly pacers, can extract movement early on, the surface usually supports sustained stroke play. As the game goes on, spinners gain momentum, thus middle-over containment is essential. Setting a target could be beneficial because the venue’s average first-inning score is 251.
Weather:
Lincoln’s match day weather forecast calls for partly overcast skies and a high of 17°C. Early in the innings, swing bowlers may benefit from the 79% humidity levels. While winds could affect seam movement, a tiny probability of rain predicts continuous play.
Fantasy Playing XI:
Maddy Green, Hayley Jensen, Jess Kerr, Hannah Rowe, Nensi Patel, Bella James, Olivia Gain, Emma Black, Anna Browning, Eden Carson, Jess Watkin
