ECB confirms dates and venues for 2025 Women’s Domestic Cricket Season under new structure

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has made public the dates and venues for the 2025 domestic season under the implementation of a newly introduced structure. The Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, a 50-over domestic tournament in England, is in its 5th edition since its inaugural edition in the year 2020.

The final of the ongoing edition of the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy will be played on 21st September 2024 at Grace Road, Leicester from 3 PM IST. The tournament will then be replaced by the One Day Cup, a new women’s domestic 50-over competition from the next season, in order to align it closely with the men’s version of the tournament. Similarly, the Charlotte Edwards Cup, a premier domestic T20 competition, with four editions since its inaugural season in 2021, will now be replaced by the Women’s T20 Blast as the new T20 competition from the next season.

A total of 8 teams namely, Durham, Essex, Hampshire, Lancashire, Somerset, Surrey, Warwickshire, and Nottinghamshire (The Blaze) will be participating in the inaugural edition of the Women’s One Day Cup. On the other hand, Birmingham Bears (representing Warwickshire), Durham, Essex, Hampshire, Lancashire Thunder, Somerset, Surrey, and The Blaze will be the 8 teams participating in the inaugural edition of the Women’s T20 Blast, next year onwards.

The Oval will host the final of the historic, inaugural edition of the Women’s T20 Blast on 27th July 2025 (Sunday). The Rose Bowl, Southampton will host the final of the inaugural Metro Bank Women’s One Day Cup Final on 21st September 2025 (Sunday).

The match will be broadcast live on Sky Sports and will be available on BBC Radio for all the listeners. The Vitality and Metro Bank will be the title sponsors for both men’s and women’s T20 and 50-over domestic competitions for the first time.

The Women’s Tier-2 competitions will be known as the T20 Blast Women’s League 2 and the One Day Cup Women’s League 2. The final of the inaugural T20 Blast Women’s League 2 will be hosted by The County Ground, Northampton on 26th July 2025 (Saturday) and the final of the inaugural Women’s One Day Cup League 2 will be hosted by The New Road Cricket Ground, Worcester on 14th September 2025 (Sunday).

On the other hand, the final of the inaugural edition of the ECB Women’s T20 County Cup will be hosted by the Cooper Associates County Ground, Taunton on 26th May 2025 (Monday). The ECB Women’s T20 County Cup is a competition that will consist of teams from all three tiers of the newly expanded women’s domestic structure.
