Kathryn Fraser to lead a young Scotland XI at the 2024 Women’s European Cricket Championship

Scotland, led by Niamh Muir, won the European Qualifier by defeating the Netherlands 3-0 to book their spot in the upcoming 2nd edition of the ICC Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup 2025.

Malaysia will host the U19 World Cup from 18th January 2025 to 2nd February 2025. The forthcoming Women’s European Cricket Championship will be the last opportunity for the players to showcase and hone their skills ahead of the upcoming 2nd edition of the ICC Women’s Under-19 World Cup 2025.

Katherine Fraser will lead the ‘Scotland XI’ in the upcoming European Championship in Spain. They will be up against England XI, Ireland XI, Italy, and the Netherlands from 15th to 20th December 2025.

The squad will be guided by the Senior Women’s Head Coach, Craig Wallace, and the Under-19 head coach Kari Carswell throughout the course of the tournament.

“For this tournament, we’ve picked a squad which encapsulates a mix between providing opportunities for younger players qualified for the U19s with some game time ahead of the forthcoming ICC U19 World Cup and offering development to some of our national squad players across a wide spectrum of experience,” said the Head of Performance Steve Snell about his mantra behind picking a squad, consisting of a significant amount of under-19 stars, providing them the much-needed game time ahead of the upcoming under-19 World Cup in Malaysia in 2025.

Notably, skipper Kathryn Fraser, Darcey Carter, and Abbi Aitken Drummond were also part of Scotland’s first-ever squad for their maiden appearance in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024.

Seven members of the squad were a part of the Under-19 squad that played in the European Qualifier, namely, Molly Barbour-Smith, Pippa Kelly, Maisie Maceira, Kirsty McColl, Niamh Muir, Mollie Parker, and Lucy Forrester Smith.
