Smriti Mandhana injured herself during one of the practice sessions and has been ruled out of the entire ODI series against South Africa Women.
Team India will miss the services of Smriti Mandhana, their most reliable opener in the ODIs so far. This opens an opportunity for other openers to pair with Jemimah Rodrigues at the opening slot. The selectors will be keen on experimenting between Harleen Deol, Priya Punia and Deepti Sharma.
Smriti Mandhana ruled out of ODI series v SA
Its a big blow to India as she has been in EXCELLENT form in the ODI format
Since the start of 2018 she has played 18 matches, scored 1018 runs at an average of 67.86 and a SR of 90.97 – in this time scoring 2 x 100s and 10 x 50s

Smriti Mandhana had a very ordinary T20I series against South Africa Women, scoring just 46 runs in 4 innings that were played at Surat’s Lalbhai Contractor Stadium. The ODIs would have been a perfect platform for Smriti to bounce back and regain her lost touch as India approaches for the Caribbean tour next month.
The big question now is: Who would take Mandhana’s opening slot. What do you think? Click below and cast your vote:
