Nida Dar, a prominent Pakistani cricketer, recently took to social media to extend her congratulations to Indian cricket stars Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Rahul Dravid, as well as Team India for their triumphant run in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Her message, originally intended for June 30th, was unexpectedly posted on September 5th due to social media restrictions in Pakistan. This delay caused initial confusion among her followers, prompting Dar to clarify the situation with a follow-up tweet.
On June 30th, 2024, Dar initially posted photos of Indian captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli holding the World Cup trophy, along with a picture of Indian team coach Rahul Dravid. She captioned the post, “A special shoutout to Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for their immense contributions to World Cricket. Your leadership skills and dedication have inspired millions around the world. Happy retirement, legends!”
However, due to restrictions on social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter) in Pakistan, this tweet from Dar’s account was posted by mistake on September 5th, 2024, instead of June 30th, 2024 and this unexpected delay caused confusion among her followers.
To clarify the situation, Dar posted a follow-up tweet three hours later, explaining, “I initially made this post on June 30th, 2024, but due to restrictions on Twitter in Pakistan, it was posted last night instead, which I learned about through the media. I am attaching both pictures to this post.”
This clarification resolved the confusion, and fans from both India and Pakistan expressed their support for Dar’s sportsmanship in the comments section.
