“We might try a few things that we’re thinking about doing in Bangladesh that might not necessarily match the conditions we’re playing in here.” England skipper Heather Knight speaks about experimenting in the T20Is to find the best combination ahead of the T20 World Cup.
The England Women’s team led by skipper Heather Knight is currently hosting New Zealand led by skipper Sophie Devine for a three-match ODI series followed by a five-match T20I series. The series commenced on 26th June 2024 and will conclude on 17th July 2024.
The ongoing ODI series could be a good platform to start their preparations keeping in mind the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup, next year in 2025 that is set to be hosted by India. As far as the ODIs are concerned, the Heather Knight-led side were last involved in a three-match ODI series against Pakistan at home. England clinched the series by a 2-0 margin as the 2nd ODI of the series was washed out due to rain. England completely dominated Pakistan in that series.
“We’re still finding our best cricket in the ODI format, I think. We’re really playing some brilliant cricket in T20, but in ODIs there’s a few areas we can do a little bit better. That last game against Pakistan at Chelmsford was the perfect blueprint about how we want to play our ODI cricket.” Skipper Heather Knight speaks about finding a perfect template that suits their brand of cricket in the ODI format. England are having an exceptional record in the ODIs this year. They are yet to be defeated in the ODIs this year, as they have managed to win all four of their six ODIs this year, with a couple of matches being washed out.
We are inching closer to the upcoming edition of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup that will commence on 3rd October 2024. The tournament is set to be hosted by Bangladesh. As far as the T20Is are concerned, they were last involved in the three-match T20I series, where they completed a thrashing whitewash. “We might try a few things that we’re thinking about doing in Bangladesh that might not necessarily match the conditions we’re playing in here. I want my bowlers to bowl in all different phases and be able to bowl players in different stages when the match-up is right, or when I get a feeling.” England skipper Heather Knight speaks about experimenting in the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand.
They also have an exceptional win record of 87% having won seven out of the eight matches this year, including one washout game against New Zealand in March earlier this year. England will play five T20Is from 6th July 2024 after the conclusion of the three-match ODI series against New Zealand. The upcoming T20I series could be an ideal preparation for the Heather Knight-led side ahead of the upcoming edition of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
