Kirstie Gordon signs a three-year contract with The Blaze

The 26-year-old left-arm spinner Kirstie Gordon has represented Trent Rockets and Birmingham Phoenix in the Women’s Hundred. She has also represented the Blaze in the Charlotte Edwards Cup and the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy at the domestic level.

She has now signed a three-year contract with the Blaze, becoming the first to sign a contract with the club. She led her side to the final of the Charlotte Edwards Cup in the year 2023. However, they ended up on the losing side by seven wickets and with 34 balls to spare against the Southern Vipers led by skipper Georgia Adams in the final. She also guided the Blaze into the final of the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy in the year 2023. However, they yet again ended up on the losing side against the same opponents (The Southern Vipers) by five wickets and 46 balls to spare in the final.

She picked up 14 wickets from 11 innings at an average of 30.50 and an impressive economy of 4.07 for her side. They are currently placed at the bottom of the points table with eight points from six games in the ongoing edition of the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy. Their couple of victories so far have come against the Western Storm and the Northern Diamonds. They are currently placed at the top of the points table with 35 points from eight games and are unbeaten in the ongoing edition of the Charlotte Edwards Cup.

The ECB is set to introduce a tree-tiered structure from the year 2025 replacing the regional model as a part of the plan to revamp the domestic structure. “I’m over the moon to remain with The Blaze. Personally, I feel a bit of a duty to lead from the front and try to embody the culture we have put in place, where we are competitive on the field and push for titles across formats but also enjoy our cricket.” Kirstie Gordon expresses her delight on signing with the Blaze and speaks about embodying the culture of the club.
