The Ireland women’s team led by skipper Laura Delany were recently involved in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifiers in Abu Dhabi. They had a sensational campaign in the tournament, staying unbeaten with a top-of-the-table finish during the league stages. However, they ended up on the losing side in the 1st semi-final against Scotland, led by skipper Kathryn Bryce. As a result, Ireland failed to secure a spot in the upcoming edition of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Bangladesh.
As far as the ODI format is concerned, they were last involved in a bilateral series against Zimbabwe. They managed to seal the three-match ODI series (2-0). Cricket Ireland has announced a list of contracted players for the 2024-25 season. The contracts for the upcoming season are divided into four categories namely, Full-time contracts, Educational contracts, Casual contracts, and Retainer contracts.
Full-time contracts are those players that are available on a full-time basis. Educational contracts are designed in a way to provide the assistance to those players who are pursuing their education by giving them a significant living allowance, helping them to concentrate on their studies and cricket. In return, the players under this category ensure full-time availability during their summer holidays.
Casual contracts are those that provide full access to all sorts of facilities, support, and assistance. Retainer contracts are those that call players for a specific series and provide similar benefits as the Casual contracted players.
