ISC MKW crowned Champions of Cricket4Her OC Women’s Summer League 2024

The Women’s Summer League is a domestic leather ball tournament for local women cricketers in Oman, providing an ideal platform for the players to showcase their talent. The 2024-25 edition of the tournament commenced on 1st May 2024 and concluded on 23rd May 2024.

A total of eight teams namely, ISC MKW, ISWK Women’s, Muscat Women’s, OCA Women’s B, OCA Women’s A, OCA Women’s C, SLSM Women, and Team Ghubra participated in the tournament. The teams were divided into two groups of four each. ISC MKW led by skipper Amanda D’Costa finished on top of the points table in Group A with six points from three games, staying unbeaten throughout the league stages of the tournament.

OCA Women’s A led by skipper Fiza Javed finished on top of the points table in Group B with six points from six matches. The top two teams from each group qualified for the semi-finals. ISC MKW defeated OCA Women’s C in the semi-final by 132 runs. The OCA Women’s A defeated ISWK Women’s by 71 runs in the 2nd semi-final. ISC MKW led by skipper Merita Pinto were all set to face OCA Women’s A in the final of the tournament.

The OCA Women’s A led by skipper Fiza Javed won the toss and opted to bat first in the final. The OCA Women’s A were bundled out for 85 with 17 balls to spare. Sameera Khan (34 off 29 balls), and Hina Javed (26 off 28 balls) were the top performers with the bat for the OCA Women’s A. Amanda D’Costa (4-1-14-4), Pratima Bhattacharjee (3.1-0-7-2), Priyanka Mendonca (4-0-12-1), and skipper Merita Pinto (3-0-28-1) were the top performers with the ball for ISC MKW.

ISC MKW chased down the 86-run target with six wickets in hand and 26 balls to spare. Priyanka Mendonca (35 off 28 balls) and Trupti Pawde (24 off 33 balls) were the top performers with the bat for ISC MKW. Skipper Fiza Javed (3.4-0-10-1), Hina Javed (4-0-24-1), and Sameera Khan (4-0-26-1) were the top performers with the ball for OCA Women’s A.

Priyanka Mendonca was awarded the Player of the Match for her brilliant all-round performance, returning with sensational match figures (4-0-12-1) with the ball and scoring an unbeaten 35 off 28 balls with the bat. She played a crucial role in helping her side clinch the Women’s Summer League title in the 2024-25 edition of the tournament.

The best batter of the tournament was awarded to OCA Women’s A skipper Fiza Javed for scoring 279 runs in five innings. Her tally of runs included one half-century and a couple of centuries. The best bowler of the tournament was awarded to Amanda D’Costa from ISC MKW for picking up 13 wickets in five matches for her side. OCA Women’s A skipper Fiza Javed was awarded the Player of the Tournament for her sensational performances with the bat for her side throughout the course of the tournament.
