The 24-year-old wicket-keeper batter Josephine Dooley currently represents South Australia in the Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL), having made her career debut in the tournament for Queensland in 2018 as a teenager. She had a decent season with the bat for her side, scoring 285 runs at a strike rate of 66.90 and an average of 31.66 in 10 innings. Her tally of runs in the recently concluded edition included a couple of half-centuries. Despite her side having a poor season managing just four victories from 12 games, and finishing 6th on the points table, she was one of the positives for South Australia.

As per the reports coming in from the official sources, the wicket-keeper batter was on her holiday in Hawaiian Island when in an unfortunate turn of events on 15th April 2024, she suffered a stroke and as per the circumstances and the seriousness of the situation had to immediately be airlifted to undergo a neurosurgery in Honolulu.

“Following surgery, Josie (Josephine Dooley) remained in the neurosciences ICU of the Queen’s Hospital in Honolulu for 18 days before progressing to a neurosurgical ward where she remained for a further 12 days. Once she was fit to fly, Josie (Josephine Dooley) was medically evacuated to her hometown of Brisbane where she was readmitted to hospital.” The South Australia Cricket Association shared a detailed update about Josephine Dooley’s condition.

As far as the Women’s Big Bash is concerned, she currently represents the Melbourne Renegades, after having kickstarted her WBBL career with her home team Brisbane Heat in 2018-19. “Like many in the Australian cricket community, the Melbourne Renegades are thinking of our beloved team member, Josie Dooley, as she faces her current health battle. She is a much-loved member of our playing group and a favorite with our fans. Apart from her impressive presence at the domestic level, she has also represented Australia at the under-16 and under-19 level. She has also been a part of the Australian A side.
