Action-Packed Summer for Ireland Women, Sri Lanka and England Tours Await

Ireland Women to have an action-packed summer as they are all set to welcome Sri Lanka and England on their shores for the first time in a bilateral series.

The Ireland Women’s team led by skipper Laura Delany was recently involved in a two-match T20I series against Thailand in Dubai. They eventually clinched it by a 1-0 margin as the 1st T20I was washed out and Ireland won the 2nd T20I comprehensively by 8 wickets and 40 balls to spare.

They are riding high on confidence as they have managed to whitewash Zimbabwe led by skipper Mary Anne-Musonda in a five-match T20I series (5-0) in their own backyard before their series against Thailand. They will now move on to participate in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier that will commence on 25th April 2024 and conclude on 7th May 2024 in Abu Dhabi. A total of 10 teams will be battling for a couple of spots in their bid to book a ticket to Bangladesh for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, later this year. The two finalists from the Global Qualifiers will make it to the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.

After a decent three-month break, after the conclusion of the qualifiers, the Ireland women’s team will welcome the Sri Lankan team led by skipper Chamari Athapaththu for a limited-overs series that includes a two-match T20I series followed by a three-match ODI series in August. Just within a few days after the conclusion of their series against Sri Lanka, they will host the England Women’s team led by skipper Heather Knight. The white-ball series will include a three-match ODI series followed by a three-match T20I series in September.

Ireland will be hosting these two sides for the first time ever for a bilateral series on their shores.
