Nigar Sultana Joty concerned about performance ahead of T20 World Cup

The Bangladesh women’s team led by skipper Nigar Sultana Joty is currently hosting the Australian women’s team led by skipper Alyssa Healy for the first time. It includes a three-match ODI series followed by a three-match T20I series that will conclude on 4th April 2024. The home side Bangladesh suffered a humiliating whitewash in the three-match ODI series at the hands of Australia who completely dominated the hosts, throughout the ODI series.

The Bangladesh women’s team failed to breach the three-figure mark on all three occasions in the ODI series. The whole team managed scores of 95, 97, and 89 in the three-match series.

“When you make mistakes at that time you will feel the need to do better in certain areas and that is good for us because this is a warning sign ahead of the World Cup. We cannot go in this way and we have to move forward otherwise we will have the same results against big teams. It is high time for our players to think that if we want to be in the team we need to perform.” Bangladesh skipper Nigar Sultana Joty gives a stern message to the players to capitalize on the opportunities and pull up their socks ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup on their home soil.

The caravan will now move on to the three-match T20I series that will commence on 31st March 2024 and conclude on 4th April 2024.

The Bangladesh women’s cricket team under the leadership of Nigar Sultana Joty was on the rise in the last 6 to 12 months as they managed to level up and deliver some impressive performances to register victories against some of the highly competitive sides, the likes of India, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan. So coming into a home series against a champion side like Australia, the possibility of them giving a tough time to one of the formidable and dominant forces in women’s cricket couldn’t have been ruled out.

However, they were handed a reality check as the Aussies exploited their woes, especially in the batting department ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in September-October, later this year, where the Nigar Sultana-led side was all set to be the host nation.
