Sri Lanka to host Women’s Asia Cup from 19-28 July 2024, 8 Teams to Participate

We are just a little over a week to the conclusion of the blockbuster 2nd edition of the Women’s Premier League in India. However, there is still a lot more to look forward to in women’s cricket for the viewers and the fans. The preparations are already in full swing for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Bangladesh, scheduled in September-October later this year. Amidst all the action, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has released the schedule for the ACC Women’s Asia Cup to be hosted by Sri Lanka, the ultimate dress rehearsal ahead of the big ICC event of the year.

The New Zealand Women’s team led by skipper Sophie Devine is currently hosting England led by skipper Heather Knight for a limited-overs series that includes a five-match T20I series followed by a three-match ODI series that will conclude on 7th April 2024. The Aussies led by skipper Alyssa Healy on the other hand, are on their maiden tour to Bangladesh for a white-ball series that includes a three-match ODI series followed by a three-match T20I series that will conclude on 4th April 2024.

The South African women’s team led by skipper Laura Wolvaardt will host Sri Lanka led by skipper Chamari Athapaththu for a limited-overs series that includes a three-match T20I series followed by a three-match ODI series that will get underway on the 27th March 2024 and will conclude on 17th April 2024.

The Women’s Asia Cup is all set to be hosted by Sri Lanka and will be played in Dambulla. The action-packed tournament will feature the top eight teams namely India, Pakistan, United Arab Emirates, and Nepal placed in Group A, and Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, and Thailand placed in Group B. The tournament will be played in the T20I format and will get underway on 19th July 2024 and the league stages will conclude on 24th July 2024. The semi-finals will be played on 26th July and the final is scheduled on 28th July 2024.
