Kawya Kavindi’s potential was recognized when she was named in Sri Lanka’s squad for the 2021 Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier tournament in Zimbabwe. Despite being one of three uncapped players in the squad, Kavindi’s inclusion highlighted her talent and potential. Further recognition came in January 2022, when she was selected as one of four reserve players for Sri Lanka’s team in the 2022 Commonwealth Games Cricket Qualifier tournament in Malaysia.
