17 years ago, on August 16, 2002, India Women’s captain Mithali Raj registered the then highest individual test score in women’s cricket history. The veteran player took hold of the English bowling and made 210 out of her 214-runs innings.

Although the match ended in a draw, India Women dominated it for most of the time. That innings from young Mithali showcased the true potential of becoming a great player. 17 years down the line, she has made so many other cricketing records and reached so many feats that Raj has evolved as one of the best batters ever produced by India in women’s cricket.

The record remained for two years before Kiran Baluch of Pakistan made 242 against West Indies Women in 2004.
