Laura Wolvaardt made her debut for the Western Province Women’s cricket team in October 2013 showcasing her potential, early on Wolvaardt’s domestic career saw her excel in various tournaments notably she was the top scorer in the 2013 cricket South Africa U-19 girls, she continued to impress, contributing significantly to Western Province’s victories including a pivotal inning in the final match of the 2015/16 Women’s Provincial League.
Internationally Wolvaardt made headlines as the youngest centurion for South Africa in August 2016 scoring a match-winning 105 against Ireland Women at just 17 years old, her consistent performances earned her accolades such as the Women’s Newcomer of the Year at Cricket South Africa’s annual awards in May 2017 and the performances are clearly evident in the 64 matches which she has played scoring 1451 runs at an average of 34.54 along with 10 50 plus scores.
Wolvaardt’s versatility extended to various t20 leagues worldwide, she represented teams like Brisbane Heat and Adelaide Strikers in the WBBL and the Northern Superchargers in The Hundred, her impact in these leagues along with her national team duties showcased her adaptability and skill across different formats of the game.
