Wicket-keeper Tahlia Wilson has signed a two-year contract with Women’s Big Bash League team Sydney Thunder. She, being a Wollongong local, would attract more attention when Thunder play one of the home games in Wollongong.
“I’m excited about joining Sydney Thunder. I’ve had a great time in the last few years in the Big Bash, and I can’t wait for the season ahead with my new teammates,” she said after joining the country’s most popular sporting side.
Last season, Wilson was named Women’s Premier Cricket Player of the Year and awarded the Alex Blackwell Medal, as the best female cricketer in Country NSW for her outstanding performances in league cricket.
Expressing her happiness on getting the opportunity of playing on the home ground she said, “It’s really exciting that Sydney Thunder will play in Wollongong.” “Personally, it would mean a lot to me to play in front of a home crowd,” she added.
