Deepti Sharma Climbs to 2nd in ICC T20I Bowling Rankings

Top performers from the Australia tour of India earn a remarkable rise in the latest ICC Women’s Player Rankings.

Players from India and Australia have displayed their match-winning abilities with their game-changing performances at some point in the ongoing white-ball series.

The 26-year-old Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma’s all-round exploits in the ongoing T20I series which includes the figures of (2/24) and (2/22) with the ball in the first couple of T20Is. She also scored a crucial 30 runs with the bat in the 2nd T20I, however, it wasn’t enough for the home side to seal the T20I series. She earned a rise in the latest ICC Women’s T20I Rankings as she climbed four spots to 2nd in the bowling rankings with 723 points and solidified her position as the 4th ranked all-rounder in the rankings with 381 points.

As far as the batting rankings are concerned, the newly appointed Australian captain Alyssa Healy made her way back into the top 10 batting rankings as she was rewarded with a rise as she climbed up one spot to the 10th position in the rankings courtesy of her improved performance (26 off 21 balls) in the 2nd T20I.

The 20-year-old batter Phoebe Litchfield, who has been impressive with the bat right throughout their tour to India has also been rewarded with a massive rise for her impressive returns (49 off 32 balls) and (18 off 12 balls) with the bat in the first couple of T20Is. She climbed up 26 spots to 52nd in the batting rankings with 440 points. She is also one of the contenders for the Emerging Player of the Year 2023 award. She was also rewarded with a rise in the ODI batting rankings courtesy of her exceptional performances (78, 63, and 119) in the ODI series. She climbed up 9 spots to 23rd in the ODI batting rankings. The 27-year-old Indian opener Smriti Mandhana maintained her 4th position in the rankings courtesy of her consistent performances (54 off 52 balls) and (23 off 26 balls) so far in the T20I series.

As far as the bowling rankings are concerned, the Australian leg-spinner Georgia Wareham was awarded an impressive rise in the bowling rankings courtesy of her impressive performances (1/20) and (2/17). She climbed up 15 spots to 28th position in the bowling rankings with 571 points. She was also awarded a rise in the ODI bowling rankings as she climbed up 6 spots to the 12th position in the bowling rankings with 565 points for her match-winning spell (3/23) with the ball in the 3rd ODI. The 19-year-old young Indian pacer Titas Sadhu was rewarded with a massive rise in the T20I bowling rankings for her match-winning (4/17) spell in the 1st T20I. She climbed 50 spots to the 92nd position in the bowling rankings with 358 points.

The veteran Australian pacer Megan Schutt was also awarded a rise in the bowling rankings as she moved up to the 2nd spot with 672 points. The 21-year-old spin-bowling all-rounder Shreyanka Patil was also rewarded with a massive rise for her impressive performance in the 3rd ODI when she returned with match figures (3/57) in her spell. She climbed up 66 spots to the 62nd position with 309 points.
