Nahida Akter, Sadia Iqbal and Fargana Hoque Pinky nominated for ICC’s Monthly Honour

The International Cricket Council (ICC) every month nominates three nominees for either category based on the performances from the first to the last day of each calendar month.

Nahida Akter (Bangladesh):

The 23-year-old left-arm spinner Nahida Akter, a young spin bowling sensation from Bangladesh played a pivotal role in Bangladesh’s historical triumph in the limited-overs series against Pakistan. She was the leading wicket-taker of the T20I series with 8 wickets to her name with an exceptional average of 5.50 in three innings. Her best performance with the ball in the series came in the 1st T20I when she returned with the match figures of (3.4-1-8-5) in her spell. She ran through the Pakistan’s batting line-up in the 1st T20I.

She played a pivotal role in helping her side clinch a historic series victory over Pakistan in the T20I series in October, earlier this year. She was also the leading wicket-taker of the ODI series with 7 wickets to her name in three innings with an impressive average of 14.14. Her best performance with the ball in the series came in the third ODI when she returned with the match figures of 3/26 in her spell. She was awarded the Player of the Series in the T20I as well as the ODI series against Pakistan in November.

 

Sadia Iqbal (Pakistan):

The 28-year-old left-arm spinner Sadia Iqbal from Pakistan was the lone warrior for Pakistan in the bowling unit on their tour to Bangladesh. She picked up three wickets in three innings. Her best performance with the ball in the T20I series came in the 3rd T20I when she returned with the match figures of 2/19 in her spell. Sadia Iqbal was the top wicket-taker with the ball for Pakistan and the second-highest wicket-taker of the ODI series against Bangladesh with 6 wickets to her name in three innings at an impressive average of 12.50.

Her best performance with the ball in the ODI series came on 4th November 2023, in the 1st ODI when she returned with the match figures of (9-2-13-4) in her spell. She played a crucial role in helping Pakistan clinch the first ODI by 5 wickets. However, Pakistan failed to seal the series in the ODIs.

Fargana Hoque Pinky (Bangladesh):

The 30-year-old opening batter from Bangladesh played a crucial role in helping Bangladesh seal the ODI series at home against Pakistan. She was the highest run-scorer for Bangladesh and the second-highest run-scorer of the ODI series with 110 runs in three innings at an average of 36.66. Her tally of runs included one half-century. Her best performance with the bat in the series came on 10th November 2023 in the third ODI when she scored 62 runs at a strike rate of 54.86. Her tally of runs included five boundaries.

She also played a crucial knock with the bat, scoring 40 runs at a strike rate of 45.45. Her tally of runs included three boundaries. Bangladesh eventually clinched the 2nd ODI in a super over. Her valuable contributions with the bat right through the three matches in the ODI series played a crucial role in helping Bangladesh seal the ODI series.
