Mithali Raj picks her greatest ODI spinner of all time. Who is he?

The former cricketers and the experts in the cricket fraternity have started to voice out their opinions on the potential journey of the respective teams in terms of their campaigns in the upcoming edition of the men’s ODI World Cup. Former Indian women’s cricket team skipper and legend Mithali Raj has also expressed her opinions and given her insights on the greatest ODI spinner of all time. She holds the record for scoring the most runs in the ODI format, scoring 7805 runs in 232 matches (211 innings).

She led India into the final of the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup in the year 2017, in England. She names former legendary Sri Lankan off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan as the greatest spinner of all time in the One Day International format. She is of the opinion that he is the one who outplays everyone as the best spinner ahead of the likes of former Australian spinner Shane Warne.

The right-arm off-spinner from Sri Lanka Muthiah Muralidaran holds the record for most wickets in a career in the ODI format, picking up 534 wickets from 350 matches (341 innings) with an average of 23.08 and a strike rate of 35.2. The ICC Men’s ODI World Cup gets underway on 5th October 2023, which is now, less than 24 hours away. Defending champions England will take on New Zealand at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad from 2 PM Indian Standard Time.
