Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) fans, we may have a piece of news that is definitely going to excite you!! According to ESPN, the Australian Coach, who is also a serial winner is set to replace the current head coach Ben Sawyer.
Luke Williams, under whose coaching Adelaide Strikers won their inaugural trophy last season will be soon appointed as the head coach of RCB for the upcoming season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL).
RCB endured a horrid campaign in the last edition, winning just 2 games out of 8 while also finishing in the second-last position amongst 5 teams. RCB had a successful outing at the auction table, buying some of the World’s Best players.
They picked the likes of Smriti Mandhana, Ellyse Perry, Heather Knight, Sophie Devine, Dane van Niekerk, Richa Ghosh, and Megan Schutt amongst others. Before the start of the season, if someone had told that this RCB team would endure such an awful season, no one would have believed it.

Despite having such big guns as well as some exciting young talent in the roster, the RCB team could quite ignite the fire, losing the first 5 matches on the trot, eventually resulting in them being unable to qualify for the finals or even the eliminator.
To improvise on this, and not repeat the mistakes of the past, RCB has decided to move on from Ben Sawyer. Luke Williams who will be replacing Sawyer, was also the assistant coach of Southern Brave in the recently concluded Hundred season. Southern Brave were victorious in the finals quite comprehensively as they registered a comfortable win of 34 runs in the finale.
Williams has spent a total of 4 seasons in charge of the Adelaide Strikers team, finishing as the runners-up twice while also winning the campaign once in those 4 years.
The RCB think tank will be hoping Luke Williams delivers the franchise its first-ever trophy in franchise history (men’s and women’s both).
