Did Ellyse Perry bowl the Fastest Delivery in Women’s T20 cricket at 130.5 kph?

The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2023’s maiden season has seen its share of highs and lows. The situation for Royal Challengers Bangalore hasn’t been the same as Mumbai Indians continue to dominate every team. Only one of the six games that RCB has played so far had resulted in a victory. The Smriti Mandhana-led team won their most recent match against UP Warriorz to record their first victory of the year. The game’s Star was Kanika Ahuja, whose 46-run innings proved crucial to RCB’s run chase.

On the other hand, Ellyse Perry made a strong bowling impression, taking three wickets in RCB’s first innings while only giving up 16 runs. Perry once again made it to the headlines by producing the fastest delivery in Women’s T20 cricket thanks to her impressive bowling performance. During their match against UPW, Ellyse Perry bowled a delivery to Sophie Ecclestone that was recorded at 130.5 kmph, breaking Shabnim Ismail’s record for the fastest delivery in women’s T20 cricket.

Ellyse Perry’s ascent has seen her emerge as one of the most dominant players of her generation, perhaps of any generation, as well as a global icon of the sport and of women’s sports. She made her debut in the second One-Day International in the Rose Bowl series against New Zealand in July 2007, before turning 17 years old, and went on to become the youngest Australian to play international cricket despite never having participated in a senior-level domestic match.

Even after Royal Challengers Bangalore secured the opening victory of the WPL 2023, their situation remains dire. With two points after six games, RCB is currently in fourth place in the WPL standings after six games. Gujarat Giants and RCB are tied in terms of points, despite Gujarat Giants’ having played one fewer game.

Bangalore will need to win both of its remaining games in order to have any chance of making it to the tournament playoffs. Its upcoming games include contests against the Gujarat Giants and the Mumbai Indians. They might achieve their second victory of the year in their contest with Gujarat. They will face a hurdle to climb in their last league stage match against the Mumbai Indians, who are undefeated this season.
