Mahika Kandanala replaces Gargi Bhogle in USA Women’s Squad for UAE Tour

The United States are scheduled to play games in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) over the new few weeks with a quadrangular series featuring Thailand, and Zimbabwe and hosts UAE on the line. Just then will play the ICC T20 World Cup qualifier event as well.

 

The squad named a few days back featured Gargi Bhogle, but now is ruled out of all matches on the UAE tour as her injury to the broken finger has failed to recover in time. The selection panel have announced a name as a replacement from the 3-player standby list.

21-year-old, Mahika Kandanala from Dallas, Texas has been given an opportunity in the main squad. In United States’ regional qualifier, she’d marked her T20I debut in Scotland against Netherland. She’s got a few numbers to her name in her last appearances during 2021 and the 21-year-old being an all-rounder had a few wickets to her name as well.

USA on the 6th of September arrived in UAE and are first scheduled to play in the quadrangular series from the 10th to 13th of September. They then play a warmup game against Thailand on the 16th of September and then comes their main event after all the buildup, the ICC T20 World Cup qualifiers from the 18th to the 25th of September.

USA’s regular head coach, Shivnarine Chanderpaul’s absence due to a prior commitment sees two coaches from the women’s domestic program in Earl Daley & Burt Cockley stepping in for the tour.
