The 2nd edition of the Hundred saw Northern Supercharges after losing their season opener to Oval Invincibles, get going with a confidence-boosting win against London Spirit but the side now stands without a key player in Jemimah Rodrigues who’s ruled out of the tournament due to a wrist fracture.
A statement on the official website of the Hundred read, “Northern Superchargers batter Jemimah Rodrigues has unfortunately been forced to end her season in The Hundred due to injury.”
Jemimah Rodrigues had sustained a blow to her right wrist during India’s last league stage game at the Commonwealth Games against Barbados. However, she continued playing and ended the tournament with 146 runs and much more importantly played crucial roles for India each time the side was in trouble.
In the Hundred’s opening game against Oval Invincible, Jemimah Rodrigues scored 51 off 32 balls and in her 2nd and final game for the season against London Spirit was dismissed early for 2.

Jemimah Rodrigues last summer for Northern Supercharges’ put on a spectacular show that helped her earn retention by the side. In the inaugural edition last summer, Jemimah Rodrigues scored 249 runs in only 7 innings and finished as the 2nd highest run-getter in the tournament. Jemimah had a strike rate of 150.90 at an average of 41.50 and the highest score of 92* in the 100-ball tournament.
India batter, Jemimah Rodrigues has been replaced by Gaby Lewis for the remainder of the Hundred with the Northern Supercharges.
This now is the second time that Gaby Lewis is replacing an Indian player in the Hundred. She’d last year replaced Smriti Mandhana for the Southern Brave and now will step in for Jemimah Rodrigues. Irish cricketer, Gabby Lewis has been among the runs this summer, she’d got a 47 to name against Pakistan in the Tri-series that also featured Australia. Prior to that, she’d also got a 59 against South Africa.
Gabby Lewis in the T20I format has got 1161 runs in 54 innings at an average of 24.70 and a strike rate of 110.99. In the format, she’s got 6 fifties and a century as well with the highest score of 105* and the Northern Supercharges wouldn’t be complaining if she carries on at the same strike rate displaying a few fireworks.
