When did Indian Women’s Team play their first ODI, T20I and Test Match?

15th of August 2022, India enters into its 75th year of Independence. Women’s cricket arrived in India much later than it’d originally started in 1934. The Women’s Cricket Association of India was formed in 1973 and was merged with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2006. The Indian women’s team played their first Test match in 1976, against the West Indies.

The moment arrived late but is the most recent memory. India’s first appearance in a multi-sporting event took place in 2022 at the Commonwealth Games where India finished the tournament on a high with Silver medals around their necks. The Commonwealth Games appearance has shown promises of women’s cricket at the Olympics with the possibility of it being a reality in 2028.
