Rizvi College and Marwari College Advance to Finals of Redbull Campus Cricket 2022

The first and second semi-finals of Red Bull Campus Cricket tournament were played on June 10 at Mullanpur Stadium in Punjab. The first semi-final was played between Mumbai’s Rizvi College and Chennai’s Dr. MGR Janaki College, while the second semi-final was played between Delhi’s JMC College and Ranchi’s Marwari College.

1st semi-final: Rizvi College (Mumbai) v Dr. MGR Janaki College (Chennai)

Winning the toss and electing to field first, Rizvi College bundled out Dr. MGR Janaki College for a paltry 42 in 13.5 overs. Jhanvi Kate led the charge with 6/4 in 2.5 overs. Vrushali Bhagat and Samiksha Bangal supported Kate as they chipped in with 0/3 in three overs and 15/2 in four overs. On the other hand, Dr. MGR Janaki College’s J Mythili was the lone warrior in the fight as she was the only batter to score in double digits. Mythili mustered 10 runs off 18 balls, including one boundary. In reply, Rizvi College completed the formalities in 6.2 overs with eight wickets in hand. Sejal Raut was the top scorer with an unbeaten 16 off 11 balls, including a couple of boundaries. For Dr. MGR Janaki College, R Deepika and GJ Janani struck with one wicket apiece.

Rizvi College’s Jhanvi Kate won the player of the match for her match-winning bowling figures of 6/4 in 2.5 overs.

2nd semi-final: JMC College (Delhi) v Marwari College (Ranchi)

Batting first, JMC College posted 84/6 in 20 overs, with Pratika Rawal leading from the front with a 23-ball 22. Bhateri (14), Ayushi Soni (10) and Riya Sapra (10) were the other contributors with the bat for JMC College. On the other hand, Marwari College’s Devyani Prasad was the pick of the bowlers as she bagged 15/2 in four overs. Mamta Paswan and Priyanka were the other wicket-takers, who accounted for one scalp each. In reply, Marwari College chased down the target in 15.4 overs with four wickets in hand. Monika Murmu shouldered the batting responsibility as she muscled 41 runs off 32 balls. For JMC College, Mahima Yadav was the star performer with the ball as she picked up 7/3 in three overs.

Marwari College’s Monika Murmu won the player of the match for her match-winning batting performance of 41 runs from 32 balls.
