West Indies suffered a massive blow right before the Semi-Finals as Afy Fletcher has been tested positive for Covid just a day before the epic Semi-Final encounter against Australia.
The leg spinner who took 4 wickets in 3 matches for the West Indies in league stages will be going into quarantine and will be missing tomorrow’s match. If West Indies successfully qualify for the final, Fletcher will not be available for that contest as well as she will be in 10-day mandatory isolation and quarantine. The team has added young all-rounder Mandy Mangru into the squad as a replacement for Fletcher.
Fletcher bowled magnificently in the last 3 matches of the league stage for the West Indies. She took 3 for 29 against Bangladesh in the nail-biting contest which West Indies won by 4 runs. She then took 1 for 23 against Pakistan.

Fletcher has been a part of the West Indies side since 2008. The 35-year-old has taken 66 ODI wickets in 58 matches with the best of 4 for 22. Earlier this year, she came back to the West Indies setup after 3 years.
West Indies now have the challenge to replace Afy Fletcher for the Semi-Finals. Anisa Mohammed, the most experienced campaigner of the West Indies will be expected to replace Fletcher in the Semi-Final as she’s a like-for-like replacement for Fletcher.
The Windies will be playing Australia at Wellington on March 30th in the 1st Semi-Final of the 2022 world cup. As West Indies qualified for the Semis due to team India’s defeat against South Africa, they will try to make use of this golden opportunity and give their best against the mighty Australians on Wednesday.
