Megan Schutt and Jess Holyoake blessed with a Baby Girl, named Rylee Louise Schutt

Australian Cricketer Megan Schutt revealed on her social media on Saturday afternoon that she is now a mother after wife Jess Holyoake gave birth to their daughter Rylee. Rylee Louise Schutt was born on Tuesday evening following a 28-week pregnancy and weighed 858 grams. Megan also shared a series of photos with her wife and their newborn.

Schutt plays the leading role in the bowling attack of the Australia women’s squad. She has represented Australia in 65 one-day matches and 73 T20s since her international debut in 2012.The 28-year-old bowler has taken 204 international wickets and 74 scalps for the Adelaide Strikers in the WBBL. Schutt was also the leading wicket-taker during Australia’s 2020 T20 World Cup campaign, taking 4/18 in the final against India and propelling her team to victory.

Schutt married Holyoake in March 2019 and called it the best day of her life. Early this year in May, she revealed that her wife was pregnant with the due date initially slated for early November. She also requested not to be considered for selection in Australia’s upcoming series against India, citing personal reasons. Their baby arrived in August, earlier than expected via C-section.

In her Twitter post Schutt said, “Our little miracle was born via emergency C-section … from 24 weeks we were told our complications meant she could need to arrive anytime onwards. So for almost 5 weeks we had our overnight bags packed, wondering how far we could get.”

“Now she’s thriving on the outside a long road ahead but little miss is already smashing goals. Jess was/is one tough cookie, incredible to be a part of it all and I couldn’t be more proud of my wife already the amazing Mum I knew she would be.”

“I am a lucky human to have two such beautiful girls in my life.”

Schutt was congratulated by her friends, peers and fellow teammates. Sydney Sixers pace bowler Lauren Cheatle responded, “Congratulations to you both, she’s beautiful!”

New Zealand Captain Amy Sattherwaite replied, “Congratulations to you both! Such a special time. She’s gorgeous.”

Sports reporter Melinda Farrell commented, “Wow congratulations to you both! What a little cracker!”

National selector Shawn Flegler also stated, “We’re fully supportive of the requests from Belinda (Vakarewa) and Megan to not be considered for selection and will continue to work with them to ensure they have the appropriate support. As the leader of the bowling attack, Megan’s absence will provide the opportunity for someone else to play the type of role she has so well over a lengthy period.”
