Mithali Raj and Mel Jones speak on why the T20 leagues are important for growth for Women’s cricket

Former Aussie cricketer Mel Jones expressed her wish and said that lots of girls and boys playing or watching the game would look at the TV and recognize the players just as cricketers and not as women cricketers. She added that the only reaction she would like to hear would be like, that particular player is from India or she is Ellyse Perry and like that.

India’s legendary player Mithali Raj said that leagues like WBBL, WIPL are those where domestic and international players are playing each other so they exchange the strategies, they also get an opportunity to face difficult situations on the field which usually they don’t get to face in domestic games and here they have to adapt to different situations, have to play with different players. The growth of the players increases tremendously when they play in the leagues irrespective that she is a domestic player or an international player. She also said that in the last four-five years the ratio of international matches is going high so that has improved the habit that the way players push themselves and it’s an opportunity for the young players to gain more and more experience.
