Kate Cross’ exceptional final over secures clean-sweep for England

Indian women yet again faced one more defeat in the last Twenty 20 match against England. They lost the match just by one run completing a series whitewash on Saturday in Guwahati.

England women posted a modest 119 for six after electing to bat first. An opening partnership of 51 by Tammy Beaumont (29) and Danielle Wyatt (24) gave England an initial steady start. Besides the duo, wicket-keeper Amy Jones also made a 21-ball 26.

India showed a sign of getting their only win in this series at the early stage. The skipper Smriti Mandhana smashed a 58 off 39 balls at the top to give India a good start. Besides Mandhana the veteran Mithali Raj scored a 30 off 32 balls. Mithali remained not out and it seemed that she would hit the winning stroke.

But unfortunately she didn’t even get the chance and had to watch the match going out of hand from the other end. In the final over Bharati Fulmali (5 off 13) wasted the first three deliveries before getting out. From three required off six balls, at one point India required three from just one ball to win. Shikha Pandey could only manage one and India almost handed over the match to the visitors.
