On the eve of International Women’s Day, #IndiaTaiyarHai to Welcome our Women in Blue

 

Mumbai 05th March 2021: The long wait of nearly a year comes to an end! On the eve of International Women’s Day, #IndiaTaiyarHai to welcome the Women’s Cricket Team as they face South Africa in 5-ODIs and 3 T20Is. The series goes LIVE on March 7th, 2021 at 9 AM exclusively on the Star Sports Network and Disney+ Hotstar VIP. Expectations are running high from the Women in Blue, who previously locked horns against Australia in the historic ICC Women’s T20 World Cup final last year at Melbourne.

Expressing his delight on the return of women’s cricket in India, Sanjog Gupta, Head – Sports, Star India, said, “Women’s cricket is integral to the growth of cricket in India and around the world. South Africa’s tour of India is the perfect platform for the resumption of international women’s cricket in India and for millions of fans to watch Team India take the field after eleven months. We are committed to the cause of growing the appeal of women’s cricket and for wider representation in the sport. The series commences on the eve of International Women’s Day and we believe there can be no better inspiration for young girls to feel empowered than women who wear India jerseys”

The series will serve well for both teams to prepare for the World Cup in New Zealand next year. South Africa’s women team last toured India in 2019 when India won both the ODI series (3-0) as well as the T20Is (3-1). Mithali Raj will lead the Indian ODI team featuring a mix of star players like Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Jhulan Goswami, Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma as well youngsters like Prathyusha Challaru, Monika Patel, Yastika Bhatia, and Swetha Verma, who have received their first national call-up.
