Jharkhand State Cricket Association to conduct Women’s T20 tournament from 14th Feb

In a welcome announcement, the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) declared that they will hold a Twenty20 meet from February 14 to 25 for its women cricketers. This tournament will be the first for women cricket players in the entire nation since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The JSCA appointed selectors will select the players and divide them into five teams – Jamshedpur Jasmines, Dhanbad Daffodils, Dumka Daisies, Ranchi Roses and Bokaro Blossoms. The tournament will have 21 matches being played between the five teams with the finals slated for 25th February.

Just like with every tournament being held nowadays, this too will be conducted with strict safety protocols in place. “Strict rules will be put in place for all the players and officials to ensure their safety,” said Sanjay Sahay, the JSCA Honorary Secretary.

As per the press release, there will be no player fee or prize money. In addition to it, there will be no franchise or team owner, no mentor, and no auction of players. But these dampeners should not play on the minds of the players. Instead, getting to play and be in the thick of action should itself act as a great incentive and motivate the players to put their best foot forward.

Just like the men’s T20 tournament held last year by JSCA, all the officials and players will be put up within the premises of the JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi for the duration of the tournament. Players with a negative Covid-19 test report will get to play. They will have to undergo medical checkups and thermal screening daily. A medical desk will also be constituted for the same.

Twentieth Century Media Pvt. Ltd. will be the event managers of the tournament. This tournament is meant purely for cricketers registered with the state of Jharkhand.

While spectators have been allowed in the stadiums during other tournaments and matches, this time fans will not be allowed in the stadium. Arrangements have been done to telecast live all the matches on the FanCode app.
