Incentives and fresh 30 first-class contracts announced by Bangladesh Cricket Board

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has expanded its centrally contracted female players as 30 women have received fresh contracts at first-class level.

In a significant development, the BCB has extended contracts to 30 players who have received contracts at first-class level, aiming to replicate the structure used by the Bangladesh men’s cricket team.

The existing 18 contracted players will also see increased pay between October 2024 and June 2025.

In a recent release, the BCB announced the introduction of the women’s national contract, which aligns with the structure of first-class players’ contracts for male cricketers. This initiative aims to provide financial stability to a broader pool of women cricketers, covering 30 players outside the central contract from November 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025.

The salaries for women’s central contracts have also been increased for the October 2024 to June 2025 period. Grade A players will now receive BDT 120,000 ($1,000 approx.) per month, and Grade B players will earn BDT 100,000 ($850 approx.), marking a BDT 20,000 increment for both grades. Grade C and D players will now get BDT 70,000 ($600 approx.) and BDT 60,000 ($500 approx.) per month, respectively, with an increase of BDT 10,000 each.

The BCB also stated that the Bangladesh women cricketers will also receive performance-based bonuses similar to male cricketers’ counterpart as the board aims to reward the performances through incentives.

Players will receive BDT 100,000 ($850 approx.) for defeating a top three ICC-ranked team in ODIs or T20Is and BDT 50,000 ($420 approx.) for winning a series. Bonuses for victories against teams ranked fourth to sixth are set at BDT 75,000 ($630 approx.) for individual matches and BDT 35,000 ($300 approx.) for series. Wins over teams ranked seventh to ninth will be rewarded with BDT 50,000 ($420 approx.) for matches and BDT 30,000 ($250 approx.) for series.
