LG Sinha inaugurates Jammu and Kashmir Police Women’s 2020 in Anantnag with Suresh Raina

In a bid to develop and grow cricket in the valley region, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir inaugurated the 2020 J&K Police Women’s Cricket Tournament. The tournament will take place at the grounds of Degree College in Anantnag, and will feature sides from the southern districts of J&K.

The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Anantnag, Sandeep Chaudhary, has been doing some fantastic work for youth engagement in sports in his city. Recently, a Chess tournament was held in Anantnag which featured 130 young boys and girls. At the inauguration, recently retired World Cup winner, Suresh Raina, was present to provide encouragement and wisdom to the young girls. Along with him, IG of Kashmir Police, Chief Advisor, and Principle Home Secretary of J&K were also present.

As reported by Kashmir News Service, the Lt. Governor spoke to the young cricketers, applauding their hard work, and wished them luck for their future endeavors. This is the first time an exclusively Women’s Tournament has been held by Anantnag Police and will feature teams from the home city, as well as Pulwama and Kulgam.

To encourage more and more people to participate and take up the game professionally, Anantnag Police will be providing kits, travel allowances, and cash prizes for various segments. The winning team will also be awarded the J&K Police Cricket Trophy.
