The new contract released from the Pakistan Cricket board shall come into effect from July. There have been significant changes which are worth welcome.
There has been a rise of 33 percent in the annual contracts of Bismah Maroof. According to Geo News, Maroof said that PCB has shown confidence in her by retaining her as the captain. She added that the confidence has further encouraged her and she will try her best to meet the expectations of the board and the fans. Naturally, it is an honor for her to lead the national side. She, according to media reports, will focus on improving the game of the side and would try to inculcate consistency into the side.
On the debut of emerging category in contracts, Maroof says that the move is commendable and will encourage new players to take cricket professionally. Umaima Sohail and Anam Amin were the new faces in the contract. Umaima Sohail reciprocated the words of her skipper and expressed her desire to meet everyone’s expectations. She said, “Let the game start and once we are again in action on the field we will play for Pakistan with our best abilities”.
Further, a total of nine players have been added to the emerging category for the very first time. The contract will encourage players to step up and rejuvenate themselves and make it to the bigger stage. Female Cricket reported that these steps should be welcomed and shall serve as a precedence for boards who have used COVID-19 as the excuse to cut essential investments.
