Players to watch out:

Phoebe Litchfield

The 20-year-old opening batter, in 8 One-Day Internationals, has accumulated 301 runs, including the highest score of 106*. Phoebe had a brilliant WNCL season last summer, scoring 399 runs in 8 games and notching up her maiden ton (107) as well. She has got her campaign underway this summer with a score of 29 and will look to capitalize on the start.

Maitlan Brown

The 26-year-old all-rounder, in the lead-up to WNCL, had a brief stint in England’s domestic One-Day competition and The Hundred. Maitlan, in the previous WNCL, featured in only 4 games and while she was a disappointment with the bat, scoring only 20 runs, she excelled with the ball, bagging 7 wickets. In the opener this summer, she wasn’t required with the bat and continues to impress with the ball, producing figures of 1/28 (7).

In 4 bowling outings, she also picked up 3 wickets. Georgia got the ongoing 23-24 season underway with a brilliant score of 65 and will want to stitch together another big season while eyeing an international debut.

Nicola Hancock

The 27-year-old pacer rose to fame in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) for her ability to swing the ball both ways. Nicola, in 12 WNCL appearances last summer, scalped as many wickets while continuing to be handy with the bat, scoring 70 runs in 6 games. In the ongoing season opener, she bowled only 4 overs, conceding 17 runs.

Pitch:

The 22-yard strip at Cricket Central, Sydney Olympic Park, favors the bowlers, particularly the pacers, resulting in a modest average One-Day total of 183 runs at the venue. Batters, when they have spent enough time in the middle, can seamlessly switch gears.

Weather:

With a minimal chance of rain and the temperature forecasted to hover around 20°C, we are in for a complete game of cricket. It should be a pleasant day tomorrow with light winds, partly cloudy overhead, and humidity at 91%.
