India’s left-arm spinner Tanuja Kanwar made her ODI debut as the West Indies elected to bat first in the 3rd and final ODI of the series at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara.
Tanuja received her maiden ODI cap, replacing Saima Thakur in the playing XI.
Earlier this year, Tanuja Kanwar made her T20I debut during the 2024 Women’s Asia Cup held in Sri Lanka and has since played four T20I matches at the international level. A seasoned performer in domestic cricket, Tanuja represents Railways and recently participated in the ongoing Senior Women’s One Day Trophy, where she played five matches and took seven wickets.
Additionally, she impressed in the Senior Women’s T20 Challenger Trophy, scoring 111 runs and claiming four wickets across four games.
Hailing from Himachal Pradesh, Tanuja’s primary strength lies in her bowling, but she has also proven to be a valuable lower-order batter. She has been part of the Gujarat Giants in the Women’s Premier League since its inception and was also included in India A’s all-format tour of Australia earlier this year.
With the ODI World Cup approaching next year, this opportunity provides Tanuja a platform to stake her claim for a spot in the national squad. By delivering an impressive performance in this game, she aims to solidify her contention for the marquee tournament.
In the ongoing ODI series against West Indies, the hosts have been dominant having won the first couple of games in the three-match ODI series and would approach for a whitewash to end the year on a high note.
