Heather Knight, the 34-year-old Sydney Thunder’s middle-order batter, celebrated a significant milestone by completing her 100th Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) appearance on December 3, 2025.

The occasion unfolded during the 35th match of the ongoing 11th edition of the WBBL, held at Drummoyne Oval, Sydney, where Thunder faced off against Brisbane Heat. Despite being dismissed for a golden duck in her landmark game, Knight’s influence in the league is undeniable, as Sydney Thunder secured a 23-run victory under the leadership of Phoebe Litchfield. Presently, Thunder sit 7th on the points table with 7 points from 9 matches, including 3 wins, 5 losses, and a washout.

Heather Knight’s WBBL journey began with the Hobart Hurricanes, making her debut on December 11, 2015, against Melbourne Renegades at Launceston. Over 55 matches with the Hurricanes, she amassed 1,353 runs at a strike rate of 107.63 and an average of 26.52. This included 8 half-centuries, with her standout innings being an unbeaten 82* off 55 balls, featuring 9 boundaries and 3 sixes, against Melbourne Stars at Burnie in 2018. While the Hurricanes lost that match by 5 wickets, Knight’s all-round skills shone through. Complementing her batting, she has taken 39 wickets at a bowling average of 27.17 and an economy rate of 6.92 across 48 innings for Hobart, highlighting her valuable contributions beyond the bat.

In 2020, Knight transitioned to Sydney Thunder, debuting against Sydney Sixers on October 25 at North Sydney Oval. Her best performance was an explosive 83 off 39 balls against Adelaide Strikers in 2020, featuring 11 boundaries and 3 sixes, a knock that earned her the Player of the Match award as Thunder secured a 58-run win.
