Amanda-Jade Wellington, the 28-year-old leg-spin bowling all-rounder, has bagged a major milestone, making her 150th WBBL Appearance. She becomes only the 3rd player to reach the landmark, joining Brisbane Heat captain Jess Jonassen and Perth Scorchers wicket-keeper batter Beth Mooney on this exclusive list. Mooney achieved the milestone just a day earlier, on November 29, 2025, against the Hurricanes in Hobart. Wellington has done it, representing the Adelaide Strikers in their WBBL 11 encounter against the Brisbane Heat at North Sydney Oval on November 30.

Wellington’s journey in the WBBL began on December 12, 2015, with the Adelaide Strikers against the Hobart Hurricanes in Launceston. Over nearly a decade, she has developed into a key player for the Strikers, amassing 163 wickets at an impressive average of 19.90 and an economy rate of 6.76 in 147 innings. Her bowling highlights include a four-wicket haul and two five-wicket hauls, with the standout performance coming in the 2021 Eliminator against the Heat, where she bowled a devastating spell of 4-1-8-5. This crucial effort helped restrict the Heat to 114/8, securing an eight-wicket victory and a place in the final, where the Strikers ultimately clinched the championship under Tahlia McGrath’s captaincy.
With the ball in this ongoing 11th edition, Wellington has taken 6 wickets at an average of 23.50 and a tidy economy of 6.17 across 7 matches. Her experience and craft remain essential for the Strikers as they currently sit 6th on the points table with 6 points from 7 games, including some weather-affected contests.
Beyond her leg-spin, Wellington contributes valuable runs in the lower order. She has scored 716 runs at a strike rate of 130.65 and an average of 12.56 in 76 innings, including a memorable half-century against the Brisbane Heat in the 2019 final (55 off 33 balls with 10 fours). In this season so far, she has added 41 runs in 3 innings, maintaining an aggressive strike rate of 136.66.
The upcoming game holds added significance as Jess Jonassen, the Brisbane Heat captain and one of the other two players to reach 150 WBBL matches, is sidelined with shoulder surgery for the rest of the season. Charli Knott will lead the Heat in his stead.
Amanda-Jade Wellington’s milestone not only celebrates her durability and skill in the league but also her vital role in shaping the Strikers’ fortunes over multiple seasons. As she steps onto the field at North Sydney Oval, the cricketing world watches to honour a player who has become a cornerstone of the WBBL and a respected all-rounder in Australian women’s cricket.
