Lizelle Lee’s record shattering 150* in just 75 sinks Perth Scorchers to a massive defeat

In the 20th match of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL), Brisbane Heat survived a spirited effort from wicket-keeper batter Bridget Patterson, and Madeline Penna to seal the game by 8 runs against the Adelaide Strikers at the Gabba, Brisbane, and Jemimah Rodrigues was awarded the Player of the Match.

Hobart Hurricanes led by skipper Elyse Villani were up against Perth Scorchers led by skipper Sophie Devine at the Sydney Cricket Ground in the 21st match of the tournament.

Perth Scorchers skipper Sophie Devine won the toss and opted to field first. After being inserted to bat first, the Hobart Hurricanes got off to a poor start as they lost a couple of wickets inside the first three overs of the innings. Skipper Elyse Villani joined wicket-keeper batter Lizelle Lee at the crease and the duo stitched a much-needed 114-run partnership for the 3rd wicket to take their side to the 130-run partnership.

Lilly Mills cleaned up the opposition skipper Elyse Villani to provide the 3rd breakthrough for the Perth Scorchers. Hobart Hurricanes eventually ended up with a massive total of 203/3 in their quota of 20 overs, courtesy of an unbeaten 73-run 4th wicket partnership. The wicket-keeper batter Lizelle Lee scored a sensational century, staying unbeaten on 150* (75 balls) and Heather Graham (23* off 17 balls) was the other top performer with the bat for Hobart Hurricanes.

Chloe Ainsworth (4-0-17-2), Alana King (4-0-37-0), and Lilly Mills (2-0-23-1) were the stand-out performers with the ball for Perth Scorchers.

Chasing a target of 204, the Scorchers got off to a poor start as they lost their top three in the first three overs of the run chase. Amy Jones joined wicket-keeper batter Beth Mooney at the crease and the duo stitched a much-needed 30-run partnership for the 4th wicket to take their side closer to the 50-run mark. Heather Graham picked up the wicket of Amy Jones to provide the 4th breakthrough for Hobart Hurricanes.

Scorchers lost a couple wickets in quick succession to further derail the run chase. Chloe Ainsworth joined Alana King at the crease and the duo stitched a crucial 35-run partnership for the 7th wicket to take their side closer to the 100-run mark. Lauren Smith picked up the wicket of Alana King to provide the 7th breakthrough for her side. Perth Scorchers were eventually bundled out for just 131 with 3 balls to spare as the Scorchers fell 72 runs short of the target.

Chloe Ainsworth (41 off 27 balls), wicket-keeper batter Beth Mooney (30 off 21 balls), and Amy Jones (16 off 16 balls) were the top performers with the bat for the Perth Scorchers. Heather Graham (4-0-24-3), Lauren Smith (4-0-11-2), and Molly Strano (3-0-17-2), and Kathryn Bryce (2.3-0-22-1) were the top performers with the ball for the Hobart Hurricanes.
