Despite her reputation as one of the most formidable players in women’s cricket, Kaur found herself overlooked by all WBBL teams in this year’s draft. This unexpected turn of events has not only raised questions about Kaur’s drafting but also highlighted a broader issue, as several other talented Indian women cricketers also failed to secure spots in the upcoming WBBL season.

The absence of these Indian stars, particularly Kaur, from the WBBL 2024 roster has sparked discussions among cricketing experts as well as fans on the social media platform ‘X’ (formerly Twitter). The social media buzz created chaos among the cricketing fraternity over Harmanpreet Kaur not being selected in this year’s WBBL.

In WBBL 2023, Harmanpreet Kaur was the only Indian women cricketer to feature in the tournament. She batted brilliantly this season and contributed 321 runs in 14 matches at a strike rate of 103.88. Her best performance came against the Perth Scorchers where she scored an unbeaten 52 runs in 33 balls with the help of 7 boundaries and 1 maximum. Apart from that, she played a couple of good knocks which put her team in a good position. But this year’s WBBL draft did not go well for Kaur as she failed to impress the other teams with her recent form so that they could pick her in their team.

Kaur’s experience is unmatched in terms of her cricketing sense, batting skills, captaincy skills, and her overall ability to perform under pressure.

In international T20 matches, she has played over 170 matches and scored around 3500 runs; however, none of the teams took a chance to include her in their squad. This is the most interesting moment that happened in this WBBL draft. Apart from Kaur, many talented Indian cricketers like Asha Sobhana, Harleen Deol, Radha Yadav, Shreyanka Patil, Sneh Rana, among others also didn’t find takers in the draft. However, it also opens up opportunities for emerging talents to shine on the WBBL stage.
