Players to watch out:

Harmanpreet Kaur

The 34-year-old Indian all-rounder, averaging 40.55 in the WBBL, has scored 1379 runs in 53 batting outings and taken 32 wickets from 33 bowling innings, including respective bests of 81* and 4/27. Harmanpreet is in the midst of another brilliant season in the competition, and in her previous 4 outings, she has registered scores of 52*, 47, 45, and 10. In a misfiring ‘Gades lineup, runs off Harmanpreet’s blade will be crucial.

Georgia Wareham

The 24-year-old all-rounder in the WBBL, in 36 batting outings, has raced to 549 runs, including the best of 57*, at a strike rate of 131.73, while also picking up 42 wickets in 59 bowling outings. With 2-fers in 3 straight games, Georgia was outstanding with the ball early in the tournament but finished wicketless in her previous 4. However, she has been invaluable with the bat and already has a couple of scores in the 40s and has notched up a career-best 57* as well.

Rhys McKenna

The 19-year-old pace all-rounder had a decent lead-up to the WBBL but initially didn’t find much success in the competition. While Rhys’ struggles with the bat continue, she’s grown in confidence with the ball, and following a few expensive outings and being under-bowled, Rhys in her most recent outing bowled her complete quota of overs and finished with brilliant figures of 3/18 (4).

Milly Illingworth

The 18-year-old pace all-rounder in her first outing bagged her maiden WBBL wicket and finished with figures of 1/18 (2). Milly hasn’t yet bowled her complete 4 overs, however, in the little she’s bowled she’s been exciting. Her previous 4 bowling figures read, 0/12 (1), 1/12 (2), 0/13 (2), and 0/12 (2). Milly’s first runs in the Bash were off a maximum and remained unbeaten on 14 in her most recent outing.

Pitch:

The wicket at Junction Oval, Melbourne, provides a certain degree of assistance to the batters. Although it is a batting-friendly surface, the average score at the venue remains in the 140s, indicating there’s assistance for bowlers, both spinners and pacers to exploit.

Weather:

The conditions are ideal to be at the Junction Oval as the chances of rain are minimal with the overhead expected to be bright and clear. The temperature is forecasted to hover around 17°C with moderate winds, and humidity of 57%.
