Players to watch out:
Naomi Stalenberg
The 29-year-old batter had a good lead-up to the WBBL, scoring a confident 75 to kick off her summer of cricket in the Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL), and has successfully carried forward the momentum into the ongoing WBBL season. Naomi, in 98 Bash outings, has accumulated 1399 runs and this edition has noteworthy scores of 54(29) and 33*(25) to her name.
Heather Graham
The 27-year-old all-rounder in the WBBL, in 94 outings with the bat, has scored 1329 runs and is the 6th highest wicket-taker with 114 against her name off 112 innings. Heather has not had the season she would have wished for so far, being expensive with the ball, while also failing to get going with the bat. Nevertheless, she is a quality player and an experienced campaigner who’ll be backed to find her mojo.
Georgia Redmayne
The 29-year-old keeper-batter, on her return to cricket following a couple of brilliant WNCL outings, which saw her score 61 runs, carried the momentum to the WBBL, scoring a fine 49 in the opener. However, she hasn’t followed up with another significant score. Georgia, in 95 WBBL outings, has amassed 2147 runs and has registered the highest of 98*. She’ll be trusted to regain confidence and return to her consistent best.
Sarah Glenn
The 24-year-old leg-spinner, with 49 Twenty20 Internationals under her belt, has picked up 61 wickets and in 16 batting outings, she has chipped in with 119 runs. Sarah had an impressive start to the season with figures of 4/23. Although her next two games returned figures of 0/41 (3) and 0/22 (2), she quickly bounced back with economical figures of 2/22 and 0/21.
Pitch:
The Blundstone Arena, Hobart, dishes a fairly balanced center wicket that offers runs for batters and a good amount of assistance to bowlers as well. The average score at the venue is in the 120s, and spinners have the upper hand on the track.
Weather:
With light winds, humidity at 76%, and the temperature forecasted to hover around 11°C, the conditions promise a complete game of cricket. The overhead is expected to be partly cloudy and the chances of rain remain minimal.
Fantasy playing XI:
Georgia Redmayne, Grace Harris, Elyse Villani, Naomi Stalenberg, Jess Jonassen, Nicola Carey, Charli Knott, Georgia Voll, Molly Strano, Sarah Glenn, Courtney Sippel
