Players to watch out:
Tammy Beaumont
The 32-year-old opening batter, with 83 Twenty20 International (T20I) appearances, has accumulated 1721 runs at an average of 23.90, with a highest score of 116. Tammy has been in excellent form recently, and her performance in the Bash is no exception. In her 3 outings so far, she has registered scores of 34, 30, and 23, and now, will be looking to convert these starts into big scores.
Hayley Matthews
The 24-year-old all-rounder, with 88 T20I appearances, has accumulated 2026 runs and taken 91 wickets. Hayley Matthews’ remarkable all-round form has been halted since she suffered an injury earlier this month. However, she will be backed to regain her batting form following scores of 20, 12, and 8 in her first 3 WBBL outings. On the bright side, her bowling continues to be rewarding.
Maitlan Brown
The 26-year-old all-rounder, in the WBBL, has accumulated 480 runs from 52 outings and has also picked up 67 wickets from 78 bowling innings. Maitlan is a crucial part of the Sixers lineup and has had a fantastic start to her season, contributing with scores of 35, 23, and 18, while also delivering impressive bowling figures of 1/35 and 2/24.
Lauren Cheatle
The 24-year-old left-arm pacer has 5 T20I wickets to her name. Since her debut in 2016 and subsequent exclusion in the same year, Cheatle is making her way back into the national set-up, with her last international appearance dating back to 2019. Lauren had a brilliant tour of England with the A squad earlier this year and has continued her good form by producing figures of 2/37, 2/43, and 2/31 to begin her WBBL campaign.
Pitch:
The wicket at the Junction Oval, Melbourne, offers a relatively balanced playing field as the conditions favour both batters and bowlers. The spinners, in particular, gain an advantage from the conditions, and a score in the 160s is considered to be a challenging one on this track.
Weather:
Despite a partly cloudy overhead at the Junction Oval, Melbourne, the chances of rain are very slim, meaning we should have a complete game. The temperature is forecasted to hover around 21°C with light winds and a humidity level of 81%.
