The Perth Scorchers had an impressive start to their campaign as they managed to pull off a hat-trick of wins last season. However, they lost their way towards the second half of the league stages, as they went on to lose five of their last seven games. As a result, they ended the league stages in the bottom half of the points table with 13 points from 14 games.

The upcoming edition of the Women’s Big Bash League is set to commence on 19th October 2023 and will conclude on 2nd December 2023. The Perth Scorchers picked up the White Ferns skipper Sophie Devine and England’s white-ball veteran Danielle Wyatt. However, later in the month of September, she decided to withdraw her name from the Perth Scorchers squad ahead of the 9th edition of the WBBL, citing fatigue as one of her major reasons. She was slotted into the gold list of players in the inaugural overseas draft.

The 33-year-old wicket-keeper batter from England, Lauren Winfield-Hill replaces her in the squad. She will be moving on to her fifth franchise, after having already represented Brisbane Heat, Hobart Hurricanes, Adelaide Strikers, and Melbourne Stars in the earlier editions of the WBBL.

She made her Big Bash League debut for the Brisbane Heat on 5th December in the year 2015. She played 21 matches and scored 298 runs at a strike rate of 93.41 and an average of 21.28. Her best performance with the bat for Brisbane Heat came on 13th December 2015 against the Perth Scorchers, when she scored an unbeaten 48 runs at a strike rate of 117.07 and an average of 21.28 in 18 innings for the Brisbane Heat.

She moved to Hobart Hurricanes for the third edition of the WBBL. She scored 72 runs in eight innings at a strike rate of 80. She moved to Adelaide Strikers in the fifth edition of the WBBL. She scored 105 runs at a strike rate of 93.75 in nine innings for the Adelaide Strikers.

In the eighth edition, last year she moved to the Melbourne Stars. She scored 254 runs at a strike rate of 105.39 and an average of 23.09. Her tally of runs included one half-century. Her best performance with the bat for Melbourne Stars came on 15th October 2022 against the Brisbane Heat when she scored 74 runs at a strike rate of 145.09.

They also signed England’s wicket-keeper batter Amy Jones through the direct nominations process to complete their overseas trio for the upcoming edition of the WBBL. They have also signed up the rookie 22-year-old pacer Zoe Britcliffe as the replacement for all-rounder Charis Bekker.

She was ruled out due to a knee injury ahead of the upcoming edition of the WBBL. She found her way into the Perth Scorchers squad on the back of an impressive performance for Western Australia in the Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL), picking up five wickets at an impressive economy of 4.44.
