The seventh match of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) 08 will be played between Sydney Thunder and Perth Scorchers at the Blacktown International Sportspark in Sydney on October 16. The game will begin at 11.30 AM IST (5 PM LOCAL).

It will be Sydney Thunder’s second match in the competition, losing their previous encounter against Hobart Hurricanes by 19 runs. On the other hand, Perth Scorchers, the defending champions, will play their first match.

Players to watch

Tahlia Wilson: 

The right-handed middle-order batter and wicket-keeper of Sydney Thunder top-scored in her last game against Hobart Hurricanes. She mustered 26 off 30, including a couple of boundaries. She fought hard in the run chase but failed to take her side home.

Samantha Bates: 

The wily left-arm spinner of Sydney Thunder was one of the most successful bowlers for her team in her last appearance against Hobart Hurricanes. She opened the bowling and claimed 16/2 in four overs, including two maiden overs. She was also the most economical bowler in the team.

Sophie Devine: 

The New Zealander is the captain of Perth Scorchers. She is a right-handed opening batter and a right-arm medium-pace bowler. The experienced campaigner has featured in 112 T20Is, muscled 2839 runs, and scalped 109 wickets.

Marizanne Kapp: 

The South African is one of the best all-rounders in the world. The right-handed middle-order batter and right-arm speedster will play for the Perth Scorchers. She can open the bowling and bowl well at the death. In her 84 T20Is, she has 1046 runs and 66 wickets.

Pitch

It will be the tournament’s second match at the venue. In the first match that was played here, 231 runs were scored. 15 wickets fell in the process. The team batting first won the game. It is a competitive wicket with something in there for batters and bowlers. The spinners will enjoy bowling here.
