As tournament heads closer, teams are lining themselves for the challenge. Sydney Thunders have now completed their side with the inclusion of English stars.
Experienced campaigners namely Tammy Beaumont and Heather Knight are all set to join their camp. It is important to note that the inclusion of these stars will be vital for Thunders as the English pair have been part of the World Cup-winning English side in 2017. Apart from Knight and Beaumont, Thunders have the service of Australian vice-captain Rachael Haynes.

In the pace department, South African star Shabnim Ismail takes the charge. She is joined by Sammy Jo-Johnson from Queensland. Women’s Big Bash League is not a new playing-field for Knight. In Tasmania, she has amassed nearly 1350 runs and 39 wickets. Beaumont, on the other hand, has played for Adelaide Strikers and Melbourne Stars. She has established herself as an eminent batter in the white-cricket format. Trevor Griffin will be coaching Thunders and it is interesting to note that he has worked with Knight in Super League on English soil.
He said that with Alex Blackwell and Rene Ferrell retiring, Thunders needed experienced campaigners to support Haynes and surround the youngsters of the side. He believes that Knight is a true leader and her dedication towards each game is inspiring for budding stars around her.
He added that “Tammy is an aggressive player who wants to score runs and wants to dominate… and that’s the way we want to play our cricket. They’re both great at connecting with people and sharing their ideas, so I have no doubt that our entire squad will benefit from having Heather and Tammy around”. Fans can catch the action of Women’s Big Bash unpack from 25th of October.
