Toss – Won by Brisbane Heat Women and elected to bowl first

1st Innings Summary – Put into bat first Melbourne Stars batters suffered a first ball wicket blow of Lizelle Lee. Opener Angela Reakes also got out in the same fashion as the former in 3rd over; the bowler being Sammy-Jo Johnson once again. To everyone’s surprise, Johnson took Katey Martin’s wicket on the first ball of 6th over (her being third) just like the earlier ones. While the first half of the batting line up was sent back to the pavilion by Johnson and Jess Jonassen, Delissa Kimmince removed the tail by taking four wickets overall. Despite getting thirteen extra runs, Melbourne Stars could not prevent team’s all-out in 19.5 overs.

2nd Innings Summary – After destroying the opponent’s batting line up, the duo of Beth Mooney and Sammy-Jo Johnson played their role well while chasing. Later, Jess Jonassen blasted six 4s and a six in her 14-ball innings, to claim the must-win game by reaching the target in just 8.4 overs.
